WV Medicaid sent a communication to dentists requesting the use of D9245 for Oral Sedation. This new code was effective on January 1, 2026.
The WVDA has learned WV Medicaid is still setting the rate for this code. Therefore, you have not seen any rate change to this code. Medicaid reports “all states are having trouble setting fees for this code.”
Medicaid has assured the WVDA that all claims utilizing this code will be adjusted back to 1/1/26 once the rate is set.
