Dr. John (Jack) Eugene Bogers II, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Wheeling, WV, he was the son of John and Betty Bogers.

Jack was a graduate of Bethany College, where he played football and served as President of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He later earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He served three years with the National Health Service Corps in Grafton, WV, before moving to Huntington, WV, where he practiced dentistry alongside Dr. Frederick Lester. He spent the final year and a half of his career practicing with Dr. David Eller and Dr. Reggie Opimo before retiring.

A lifelong service-oriented leader, Jack contributed significantly to his community and his profession. He was a member of Grafton Masonic Lodge #15 and served on the Alumni Council and Advisory Board for the WVU School of Dentistry, the Executive Council of the Boy Scouts of America, senior warden in the vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, and the boards of Special Olympics and Cammack Children’s Center. He previously served as President and is currently a Governor-appointed member of the Board of Dental Examiners.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Sally Lester Bogers; his children: John Bogers (wife Melissa) of Herndon, VA; Andrew Bogers (wife Kerri) of Hampstead, NC; and Carly Worthy (husband Sean) of Reston, VA. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Jackson Bogers of Herndon, VA; Sarah, Max, and Cate Bogers of Hampstead, NC; and Paxton, Breck, and Hendrix Worthy of Reston, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Candice Schwark (husband Jim), and brother Lindsay Bogers (wife Tami); and seven nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for his dry, sarcastic humor, his caring heart, generous spirit, gentle touch, and strong work ethic. He was a member of Guyan Golf and Country Club and played often with the Winter Golfers group. A passionate musician, he enjoyed playing guitar and performing as the bassist for The Oakwood Road Band.

Following his retirement, Jack spent much of his time on the golf course and exploring new hobbies, including traveling, model building and oil painting—an art form he was proud to learn from Patti Del Checcolo.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church. The memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Father Greg Pennington officiating, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church or the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
