Governor’s Final Plan Due to the Federal Center for Medicaid Services on November 5th
In September, Governor Patrick Morrisey announced a 10-day window his office would accept proposals for the new Rural Health Transformation Program.
The $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program was created through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, part of the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill.” According to information from the Governor’s office, West Virginia is set to receive $100 million per year over a five year period through the funding, which is being promoted as a program “that will spark real change for rural health care.”
Your WVDA worked diligently and submitted a proposal which included increased Medicaid reimbursement, loan forgiveness for oral surgery residents and general dentists in rural practices, and improving hospital surgery access for pediatric patients. The WVDA’s submission is 1 of 180 proposals designed by entities across West Virginia.
The Governor’s Office, along with WV Medicaid, will determine what proposals make it into the State’s final application on November 5th.
