New Speaker for WVDA January Meeting

Due to circumstances outside of his control, our originally scheduled speaker for Friday, January 23rd is unable to join us.ย  However, we are pleased to announce Dr. Ed Schlissel will join us to present “The Team Approach to Integrating Digital Solutions for Implant Restorations.”

Bio for Dr. Schlissel:

Dr. Schlissel received a BA from Brooklyn College in 1969 and DDS from the University of Buffalo in 1973.ย  In 1982 he received a Master of Science in Materials Science from the College of Engineering and Applied Science, Stony Brook University.ย  He is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental honor society, and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.

From 1974 until 2004, Dr. Schlissel was a member of the full-time faculty of the School of Dental Medicine, Stony Brook University, where he held numerous positions and taught many courses.ย  He served as Chairman, Department of General Dentistry, Director of the General Practice Residency Program, Director of the Dental Laboratory, Director of Continuing Dental Education and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.ย  He was a member of the New York State Board for Dentistry, a consultant to the Commission on Dental Education and a member of the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners.ย  Currently Dr. Schlissel holds an appointment as Professor Emeritus of General Dentistry, Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Schlissel is the author of numerous papers and has given presentations on a wide range of topics, including dental implants, restorative dental techniques, dental materials and dental education.ย  He has lectured at many dental meetings and study clubs, consulted with dental manufacturers, and given many courses of continuing education.ย  His areas of major interest are implants, dental materials, the integration of new technologies into practice and the issues related to the coordination of care in multidisciplinary dental treatment. This includes CAD/CAM restorations, new techniques for CT imaging, virtual implant location and development of surgical and placement guides.

Since graduation from dental school, Dr. Schlissel has practiced dentistry, in both the private sector and the intramural faculty practice.
